I stumbled upon this: http://www.xodustech.com/projects/bitcoin-mining-farm and sure enough, they're like $13 area shipped. I think I'm going to order a couple and pull out the soldering iron. I wonder how well these run... If they can even run 2 big cards or 4 small I'd be very happy with it.
the 6950 poweredge appears to have 1500w in the $30 area.
I realize I have to do a bit of soldering and still use a "standard" PSU to power the board and drives but for the graphics instead of spending hundreds on big units I could just pop in like a 500w for the system and then power the cards from these things. In the $15 range for the other ones I'd likely just put at least one of those on any system with more than 2 cards. I'll have to look and see how much the 6 and 8 pin connectors are from monoprice but I'm gonna try a $15 one
