Cheap Mic Needed

Hey guys -- I need to pick up a cheap microphone for use with my desktop. I've been using one I picked up on a whim for years but it finally stopped working.

By "cheap" I mean I'd like to keep it under $20, shipping included, but $10 would be better. I have a Best Buy and Office Depot here locally if that helps.

For some reason I have it in my head that the ones with a 3.5mm jack are "better" than the USB ones, same as how PS/2 keyboards have advantages over USB ones, but I'm not sure if I'm right about the mics. At any rate, I have a microphone jack of the "standard" size (whatever that is), so I'd like to get something that will fit that.

It will be used mainly for Mumble, but Ventrilo/Skype may also make an appearance at some point. Sometimes I also record myself singing just to remind myself that I can't sing worth a damn and I need to get back to work and quit watching TV.

Suggestions?
 
Thanks much for the suggestion! I do have headphones that I use with the mic. I have an actual headset somewhere but I've never been able to get into the concept, probably b/c I'm always eating something.

That mic looks like a fairly solid option, and it's black too (a plus). I think I'll be happy so long as I can be confident of getting something "good" for the price.

Time to order some more tea to get the super saver shipping ;) Deliciousness.
 
It's far from "good", there are lots of issues with picking up speech and other noises behind you, etc., and the clarity is far from good.

However, it's still great for the money -- I own one and would recommend it to anyone who wants to just do basic voice chat, particularly gaming.
 
Well, good for the money is what I meant -- even in this extremely low price range quality can vary a lot. So thanks again for the further endorsement!
