Well, Im interested in building a HTPC, a cheap one...
What I mainly want is to be able to play all video formats (HD material, HDTV isnt a must) and use emulators for SNES, NES, GBA and SEGA.

What I'll need is Navigation (probably MS Remote & keyboard for MCE), CPU, Memory, Motherboard, GPU, DVD-burner (probably NEC Slimline).

Ive tried to make a package, and picked:
Asus M2NPV-VM
AMD Sempron 2800+
Corsair PC5300 512MB DDR2

So, what do you think of above? Is the CPU enough for playing all video formats (exl. HD material, HDTV) and emulators of snes, nes, sega and gba?

I would like you to recommand me a package of CPU, mem, motherboard and GPU that is as cheap as possible but still meet my requires.

I would like to be able to upgrade it for HDTV use later, if I may get a better TV, so have that in mind when picking the parts...

btw. no need to include HD or a case...

Another thing I thought of...
I have a Dell Precision M50 laying around here, could I use any parts from it?
Specs: http://www.cadinfo.net/editorial/dell-m50-spec.htm

Could I use the Motherboard, CPU and Mem?

if Yes:
may I be able to use more HDs (3½") ?

Should I be able to use the M50 Power supply, or would I need to get a new one? (Would Standard ATX / mATX ones work?)

What's about the monitor and the keyboard, am I able to ditach them to use a "common" of my own choice?

The motherboard doesn't seem to have TV-out, Ill probably need to purchase a TV-card since I intent to use a TV as monitor ("CTR"), would I be able to use a tv-card on the board? Thought of if there are any PCI slots on the board...?

Thanks in advance
Appoc

Thats one ugly case. Anyways...

That Asus mobo you mentioned and a 3200+ (or a 3000+ if they have one in AM2 trim) with 667 1.9v memory (Value line works here).

I wouldn't expect the Semprons with 128mb cache to work well, the 256mb maybe but at that point going with a full 512 isn't that much more costly.
