Looking for the benefits of a fast HDD. What would the price be of a decent SCSI setup thats comparible to a Raptor be? I know absolutly zero about scsi... just wondering the price of the controller + 74g(ish) drive

if you're only looking at 1 disk, scsi is overkill unless you're a guru of some sort. raptor = cheap = good.
a scsi disk will prolly run you $200, and then a $100 controller card.

Bah, you can get a decent SCSI setup for quite cheap. An LSI U160 controller card will run you <$50, esp. if you get it refurb from newegg or on e-bay. Next, a pair of 36gb, 10K RPM drive will run you less than $100, or you might even be able to score a 73gb for that price. I say go for it

What type of scsi hdd should I get with this controller if I was to buy it?

Yeah, thats the same controller I have in my NF7. 64 bit PCI cards are backwards compatible with 32 bit slots. :)

/edit: forgot to answer your question Tengis!

So, as far as what drive to get... I suppose it wouldn't matter all that much, but I personally love my 15k rpm drives. So, I would personally recommend that. Any 68 pin drive will work with that controller fine, but I would say get at least a U160 drive, as the older ones are a decent bit slower. So, I guess I recommend a 15k U160/U320 drive.

Check on storagereviews.com for more detailed information about specific drives. :)

Any U160 or U320 drive with a 68-pin connection on its back. You can also get an 80-pin drive, but you'll need an 80-pin to 68-pin (SCA to LVD) adapter as well.
