Have been poking around eBay but nothing quite catches the eye. No gaming so don't need ultra fast response time and what-not. Wondering if [H]-ers would recommend anything, or should I just bite the bullet and go with the U3014?

Can you go down to a 27"? http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-ZR2740W-...ptions - as I've been looking for one myself.
