I am looking for a cheap case to try some mod ideas on. there is a good chance that I will destroy it or just not like the result, so I want it cheap. just a practice case. It can be sued, as long as it's cheap. any ideas?

How soon do you need one? Cause i'm taking a computer apart to sell in parts and I'll be selling the case as well. Is in very good shape, I'm gonna take pictures of it either tonite or tomorrow.

no hurry. just wanting to bang one up again. i would like to see some pics and a price.

No problem I will try to have ready by tomorrow and I'm asking $25.00 shipped or Better Offer.

That is when you look in all the really cheap computer shops. Normally you avoid them because the parts don't last long, but a case is just steel. I ended up just modding an older case that I had for my first mods. It is just a thought.

I have one old case, but it will require a lot of work to do what I have in mind. It is old so it has one of those solid sub frames instead of the skeleton llike in current cases. I am still sizing it up now and dusting off the dremel.

Centurion 2's are pretty cheap (about 30), and also look fairly decent, so i guess you could keep it if you like the results. their airflow isn't too good, but that's why you mod right? :p

Here are the pictures of the case is a very good case and solid I had it for about 5 yrs. now. PM if you are interested.

"Before bed bump, morning bump." Lol... haha

Sounds like some [H] prayer

arock, I'll keep yours in mind. $25 is a good deal, but I may have an inside line on a free one from a friend. I'll let you know.

Wow.....it's really sad what they're expecting to get, &/or what people are willing to pay, for that junk!!

I work for uncle sugar here in TX, and have buddied up with the guys at the DRMO (defense reutilization management office), hoping to get in on some good computer deals. Guess what? The government has a sole-source deal with the federal prison industries, who get ALL the old computers that get turned in to drmo. FPI takes those old computers, rebuilds/refurbishes them to working condition again, then donates them to schools. They get a nice tax break, schools get free computers from the feds. And I'm all for that.

But what you're likely seeing on that website is the junk they couldn't repair or refurb! In other words, this is the garbage that won't be worth much more than a paperweight!! :(

The really sad part is if you notice that all the computer lots are described with having the hard drives removed. That's by law, because the government agencies have to either completely (and I mean completely ) wipe the hard drives clean, or pull them from the computer before turning it in. Unfortunately, a hdd is oftentimes one of the more costly componenets of older systems like that.

And what's even sadder than that is that my local drmo has a crate, about 4 feet square by 2 to 3 feet deep, that's full of nothing but hard drives! I've tried to talk the guys that work there to let me have some of 'em, but neither they nor I have any inclination to lose our jobs over some old hdd's. Granted, they're all older, probably no bigger than 40gb, but I find those to be perfect for project computers that I don't plan on having much more than an OS on. Oh well......

hehe... been thinking that myself...

anybody want to donate parts towards the junkiest comp on earth, built out of a sandisk box?

d*** thing's so big you could fit 2 entire matx comps in it (if you did it right...)

The only reason i posted the link was i thought he was looking for a cheap case to mod

I know the parts in the case SUCK ! :p but if your just looking for cases i thought
it would be a GREAT plase to try .

They got every size you can think of and plenty of cases that would be GREAT for
a water cooling setup !

mental is right, I couldn't care less about the stuff in the case. I just am looking at a case to hack. i found one though.

Yeah.. But I mean, I love huge cases.. Thats why im buying a coolermaster 710 old style one.. Those things are beafy, thats why earler I made a thred for gauges.. Looking for some to mmod the coolermaster with and no body responded :( But yeah, I love the hard drive caseing inside the case and the dual 80 mm fans on back and in front.. Makes airflow so much better.

I just need to find some high tech small computer made for gauges so I can mod the crap out of it. Its gonna be a sweet rig when im done with it.

haha, i did that with a couple of old computers i had. well not with the sandisk box, but when i just built my new athlon 64, i decided to through all the parts i had from old comps into one huge one. well i never actually ingegrated the mobo's, but there is 2 comps in 1 big sheet metal and duct tape case. I've got an internal KVM switch with a hotkey so that i just hit f12 to switch between comps though. i should post some pics sometime. lol. It's sittin in my basement as of now.....

*Duct tap, a mans true best friend*

Is it me or did Falcon Northwest use a black version of the case arock1_3 posted pics of, years ago (literally, like five years ago at 'least)... Seems eerily similar, heh. I drooled so much over Falcon rigs back then, I think the image is imprinted in my mind.

I work for a Government contractor...and i had to clean up some boxes this summer that were in the office. They were all being junked, but the drives had to be nuked anyways, so i had to do a DOD level format on them, even though they weren't classified computers that ever viewed classified data....know exactly what you are talking about lol

hey mell, can you sneak me one of those old heaps for $50 w/o anyone else knowing?

i could probably make use of the parts, and sell whatever i didn't need (after steaming the stickers off lol)
