I am looking at the case here
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=140838

and well it's cheap. I am wondering if I am not planning on overclocking do I need to worry about a ton of fans and airflow and how will the CHEAP cases really matter.

I could care less what it looks like. I need it to house 2-3 hard drives, 2 dvd drives, a low end video card like a 7600 or something. Probably a DS3R motherboard, q6600 with a Artic Pro 7.

Any reason I would want to spend more on a much better case.

Thanks

Ryan

get the centurian the other poster pointed out, and an 8500gt instead of a 7600. I recommend the gigabyte passive with hdcp.

I would agree that the centurion is probably your best bet. But I recently bought one of these and it is actually a decent case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147057

It comes with a 120mm fan that you can move to the front to cool the harddrives more directly (plus, it's got a pop-out cleanable half-assed fan filter thing which is a nice little touch). Nice case for $10 after rebate.

But please don't skimp on the PSU if you're planning on a q6600.

For what I plan on doing (NOT GAMES AT ALL) I think anything around $100 is fine. I am not spending more than that. Plus I will not be overclocking it at all so not sure if airflow is an issue at all either. I have a CPU cooler and I thought that should be fine.

I don't want to spend $100 on a case and I certainly don't want to spend $20 more on a fan for it.

The one for $10 after rebate might work for me. I just need it to house what I have.

Any other thoughts?

Ryan

Parts are temporary, a case is forever.

Just spend 50 or 60 bucks and get a decent one, a centurion 534 or something at least.

I mean, come on, you'll get a quadcore, but not a decent case?

Centurion 534 is one of the better value cases that don't look like ass, I have 2 ,I love em.

I guess I am OK with spending a little money on the case but honestly i could care less what it looks like. I don't mind that part at all.

Just trying to save where I can, and IF I can and it doesn't impact functionality why would / should I spend more? Hence the questions I was asking.

I don't want / need to spend more than I have to on the case because I don't need all that great cooling or it to look good.

thanks for all the opinions though and keep em coming.

There was the $10 after rebate case with Free shipping at ZZF.

Thanks

I don't. I am probably getting the Corsair 520

Thanks for the comments.

Is that case pretty quiet? What is under the IO panel? There are no pics on newegg with what is under that panel. Sound? USB?

Thanks
Ryan

The case is decently quiet. I'm only using the stock 120m fan in the back and an Ultra PSU with a 120mm fan. I drilled out some of the holes in the back to allow a little more air flow (I think the default holes are a little restrictive).

The front panel hides 2x USB ports, audio ports, and the 3.5" bay.

Also, I forgot to mention that there is a place to mount a fan directly in the drive cage with an adjacent vent in the case. I think it only holds a thin 80mm fan, though.

Is there something wrong with the ubiquitous Aspire X-Dreamer II? It's a decent case for the money.
