:) Anyone know of a good cheap ATA card I can use for my optical drives?
My motherboard only came with 4 sata and 1 IDE connector. It makes life difficult when everything I have is IDE based.

I currently have a Promise 100TX (I think) card that came with a hard drive.
I would use it, but its a pain in the butt because it takes about a minute to detect the two optical drives connected to it. (Might http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=11&category=all&os=100&go=GO# that stuff help? I have the one that came with WD, so perhaps it wont work wtih the neweset bios?)

I have tried Cable select, master/slave, different cables etc. So I hate my card... is there one that wouldn't add an extra minute or two to my boot time?

Move your HD (not the booting one) to the promise card and move 1 optical drive back onto the motherboard. The promise cards (maybe all ata pci cards?) don't like the optical drives on them. So pick an optical drive and just use one.

I only have 1 ATA controller and I just have my 1 boot drive so I can't stick it onto that controller card. (98% sure it will be a pain in the arse if I move it there)
