I have been debating whether to upgrade the video card or not, since im going to be building a new PC in the fall. I mainly use my PC for the internet and word documents, but i do play games couple nights a week. My main game is Blackhawk Down, still love going online after all this time....but I also play FarCry.

My main PC(old reliable....lol.) is NF7, XP2600 T-bred, 1G Adata PC4000,80G WDSE, ATI 9000 Pro 128mb. Run the CPU 250x9 everyday, with the video card at 300core 300mem.I have been very happy with it so far , running 1024x768 on most games. Newer games are starting to give me less performance than im used to.

I dont want to spend a fortune and was thinking that a vanilla FX 6600 might do me til fall. Grab one and OC the hell out of it and see how things go. What do you think? Or is there no cheap alternative right now???

Max $120 maybe. Trying to keep as cheap as possible, the wifey just got into college so i have to spend as little as possible. It really isnt anything out there "cheap" at the moment that i can see that will drastically give a performance boost....but then again the reason i mentioned the 6600 series is because i know next to nothing about those.

I was actually looking at the second one while you posted the link. I think Im gonna go with that and see how much difference it is. If its not ill just put the 9000 Pro back in and give that one to my younger son....thanks.

good luck, a vanilla 6600 is definately what u want for your price range, hope u enjoy! :D
