I recently got Charter Digital and well it isn't working, but thats not the problem. I got a question in terms of the resolution of the digital cable, is it 480i like regular TV? Because the Charter box we got only have coaxial and A/V out. I am assuming and HDTV box from charter has different outputs, am I right am I wrong. Is digital even worth it or should I just go with HD, but I also need it on multiple TV's. What do i do? Because we just got a Plasma and LCD tv's and want to take full effect of its 720p and 1080i

Digital is just a digital converter so you can watch thier digital content and analog, with all the extra features like On Demand (or whatever Charter calls it)... It is standard definition.. You will require an HD digital cable box for High Definition content.. Even then, the high definition content is carried on seperate high definition channels. So you will get all the normal standard definition channels plus high definition ones.

I have Comcast, and there are a fair amount of HD channels, but is by far still a minority.

Basically each type of box (analog ->digital ->HD) is an upgrade that adds more content to what you have already.

so does Digital look better than Analog, because Analog is 480i. So I am assuming that Digital > 480i. Right? Also can you recieve Digital through coxial cables, and HD has to be at least RGB cables Right? Thanks for the help.

I believe HD has to be either component, VGA, DVI, or HDMI.

I believe analog goes up to 480p (S-video). But then again, VGA is still analog and it can do 1080p.
