Changing the DVD drive face plate

Please excuse my apparent ignorance... but the last 4 cases I've bought for new builds came with black or silver face plates for the optical drive bays. Each time I thought, aha, I'll just pop the old beige plate off of the old drive and slick it up with this custom matching plate. Each time, I've failed miserably in my attempts to pry off the old bezel. Without snickering too much, can someone advise me how to get it off without breaking it?
 
Some drives may be different, all that I've seen work this way.

First open drive tray, and remove the face plate of the drive tray. Be careful with this as, you could break the drive tray. Usually this is held on by small tabs on the under side of the tray. Carefully flex the center of the face plate away from the tray and slide it up and off. push the tray closed.

For the plate attached to the drive body, there will be four plastic tabs holding it on: top, bottom, left, right. A screwdriver works well to press these in and help move them out of the slot. This piece should come off fairly easily.
