changing ringtones when calling someone

We were talking about this a few minutes ago at work. We've run into it a few times, but no clue how to set it up if we wanted to. Or maybe provider specific.

Calling someone and instead of hearing just a plain ring over the phone, you hear a song...? Can't remember who I called recently who's phone did that, or i'd ask them lol

Its called a Ringback Tone (Wikipedia: personalized ringback tone) some cell providers offer it.

I think they're awful Although having a euro-style ring instead of usa might be obnoxiously snobby. (Plus they usually charge you per month for it i think , so its a ripoff).

I know Verizon has ringback tones.

I think they charge you like $2 per tone and then $0.99/month on your plan for the Ringback service. You can use the tone for 1 year and then you'd have to get another one. You can get multiple tones and set individual ones for certain people if you wanted, just like Ringtones.

I've used the service before, but I'm not using it currently.
