I've been having a look at the gallery and I've noticed the most of you have changed your original aspire psu for a bigger one. Why did you do that? Would you recommend me to do so if I'm not planning on touching voltages? My system is also quite simple so i don't think it really needs more power.
 
Every one pretty much changes the PSU becuse the aspire one sucks. Its fine for low-end systems to low mid-range.

If you post your system specs, everyone can help you decided if you need a better PSU.

athlon64 san diego 3700+
mobo gigabyte ga-k8nmf-9 (no vcore option)
2x512 dual channel ddr400 cl2
x800gto 256mb ddr3
wd caviar sata 250gb hdd
standard sized philips dvd burner

im also planning to move from the stock fan to a zalman 7700 and maybe adding one more case fan
 
If you don't plan on upgrading any more your probably fine. If you upgrade the video card or add another hard drive. I would recommend upgrading the PSU.
 
Just noticed my PSU fan is moving but it isn't actually moving any air.
I've also checked if it was moving air inside but it's not.

Is this poor fan efficiency supposed to be like that?
 
I can't tell you if it's poor efficency becuase I never used mine. I replaced it right away. It could be that the PSU has a temp. controlled fan and that your not pushing the PSU hard enough to cause it to spin up.
 
I assume this is an Aspire QPack case?

I replaced mine due to the "excellent" noises it made, and the fact that it rebooted now and then for unknown reasons. I only have a 9800pro, 120gig drive, DVDRW, and a P4 2.26GHz. The new PSU (Enermax 400W) has been far more stable so far.

The fan on my stock PSU also didn't puch much air, it felt to me like it was due to the 120mm fan being too powerful. The little 80mm in the PSU never stood a chance! I actually felt more air being pushed thru the PSU after i undervolted the 120mm to 5V or 7V (i forget which, i made the cable a long time ago).
