I am going to change out my Corsair XMS PC3200 for some Corsair PC4000 which is DDR 500 from what I read IIRC.

What changes do need to make in my bios and settings to get this to work.

TIA

Umm well it depends, are you overclocking? That would be the only reason to change. Youd just need to probably fix a few timings or something. If youre at stock speed, you may need to go into bios and put them down to 200mhz(instead of the stock of 250mhz).

If youre ocing, youd probably just need to check what speed they are running at first. Assuming youre gonna do 1:1 ratio to oc to 2.5ghz or something. Check if they are running at 250mhz. Or check to make sure you dont go over 250mhz using a divider.

I am not OCing yet, but that was why I got the memory, from what I have read it was made for OCing this board.

I have not ever OCed before other than using the preset setting Asus gives you on my other Asus boards.

This is a new build rig that has ran great for 3-4 months. Figured it was time to bump it up a bit.

I did play with the NOS setting going from 3% to 10% in steps it ran 2.8 great.

But that was with my current memory, the new stuff will not be here till Saturday.

Yeah I mean in reality, you really dont need high speed memory for ocing with AMD 64 chips and boards. I have 1gb of TCCD corsair and I just run a divider on it. OC'd my venice to 2.5ghz and run mem at a little over 200mhz. I could run it at 1:1 but, there is very little performance differenence and im trying to keep temps down.

Anyways ya, PC4000 memory(250mhz) should be plenty for ocing. Almost not needed but....You should have plenty room for ocing now. Im assuming youre planning on ocing fairly hight then. You can do 2.5ghz with 1:1 with that new memory. Obviously cpu is going to be the limit now, you can easily run mem with a divider if you have to.

I am wanting 2.8 to 3.0

I know I can just change my multi to 14 to get to 2.8, then if I get my buss to match the new mem......

Like I said, I have never OC via the bios the "correct" way but know this rig is quite capable.

Any info would be highly appreciated. :)

Got the new 500DDR in this am left all settings at auto,
it posted but at the windows screen started getting odd characters and did not finish. This did not surprise me but was a good test.

rebooted changed my ddr voltage from auto to 2.80,
rebooted posted and windows fine. ran 3dmark it started fine locked up on second test the fairies.
rebooted upped voltage to 2.85, tried 3dmard again it completed the fairies this time and then gave me a must shut this program down msg afterwards.

I was reluctant to bump it up again without talking to you guys.
are there other options I need to change also or just bump the voltage up once more??
