I'm trying to setup network shares and printer but i'm not having any luck. The home group tool is crap.

Where can I find my homegroup password?

If you ever forget your homegroup password, you can find it by opening HomeGroup in Control Panel on a computer that's part of the homegroup. Here’s how:

Click to open HomeGroup.

Click View or print the homegroup password.

There is NO "View or print the homegroup password" !!!!

I was trying to follow this site:
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/3848/windows-7-how-to-view-andor-change-your-homegroup-password/

But ran in to other problem; 3. Select All Control Panel Items. There in no such option!! You have to enter it in to the address bar to get it to come up.

I tried doing that for "View or print the homegroup password" but that didn't work and the built in windows search came up with nothing at all.

Could someone please help me get file and printer sharing setup? Thank you!

Just type 'homegroup' in start menu and it should be the first thing.

EDIT: Advanced settings should let you turn on/off file and print sharing although I believe its on by default once you setup a homegroup.

Start > Cick on "Homegroup"
Click on "View Homegroup Settings"
"Change the password..."

Or open your network and sharing center (click on the monitor near the system tray)
Click on the "joined" or whatever next to the homegroup
"Click on "Change the password..."

EDIT: Nevermind, I just looked at your screenshot.

It says that Lynn has created the homegroup.... you have to get the password from HER computer and use it on your computer to join her homegroup. You can probably create another one, but she'll have the password for the one she created, so you'd best get it from her computer so you can join.

This fixed it. Its just odd that I was not able to create a new homegroup or change the password to my home group.I had to setup the homegroup on her computer and then join that and now I have the options that where missing before.

It also depends on what type of network you install. If you install Public or Work. I have homegroup completely disabled plus removed icon from the Libraries window. I also have that pesky Network icon off too ;)
