Changing HD letters in XP

I just got my new machine set up last night, but my second hard drive (SATA) shows up as F: in WinXP. It's a picky thing but I want to change it, so when I went into disk management, it was listed as a system drive (C: is listed as the boot drive) and wouldn't let me change the letter. Windows and everything to do with it (documents and settings, program files, windows) is on C:, when I went to change the other drive, there was nothing on it. Is there something I can do to change it?
 
If windows says it's got system stuff on it you cannot change it without causing many problems that I've found.
 
It doesn't (shouldn't) have system stuff on it though :(

I suppose since it is a new install I could try again, but I don't know why it would say it's a system drive in the first place
 
It's possible it has boot record information, windows, i've noticed has a habit of putting that in the most awkward places whether you want it to or not.
 
theres a program called "drivemapper" that comes with partition magic... havent tied it but i would think that it would work....
 
Been there and done that. NON of that shit mentioned above this post works or worked on my XP Pro installation. I had to do a complete reinstall and have the hardware items taking up all the drive letters disconnected before the install. Like my "BYTECC 19 in 1 USB 2.0 card reader". Then the operating system saw my drive as C:\ and the other two as D and E.

A good suggestion, but I will need one of my optical drives plugged in so that I can actually install XP and they are what's getting in the way.
