Not sure if it's even worth it but was wondering how to change hd/optical disc letter assignments? Have Windows XP and would like to rework all the letters. I do have Partrition Magic if that makes it any easier.

Thanks!

Right click My Computer and pick Manage.
Double click on Disk Management.
In the lower part of the window on the right, right click on the drive you want to change, and pick Change Drive Letter and Paths...
Click on Change, and then pick the drive letter you want.
You cant change to a drive letter that is in use, so be sure to move others off a letter if you want to use it for another drive.
Also, if you have programs installed on that drive, changing the drive letter will break all your shortcuts.

so only the shortcuts wont work? thats not too bad, as far as the rest of the paths, they are fine?

also does that show the cd/dvd drives as well or just the hard drives?

Thanks again!

shortcuts will still work as long as you dont take the drive letter of a hard drive, or have installed something from the cd that requires it to run (like a videogame that needs the cd to play).
yes, that works for optical & removeable drives as well.
