Changed Vcore setting, weird results with 6700k?

I had my voltage settings set to auto since building my system(exception is enabling XMP). According to HWmonitor the Vcore would vary from .804 at Idle to 1.344v running something like Prime95. Temps would be 20c at idle and 67c max after running prime95 for about 10 minutes.

I started messing with the vcore, going with 1.275v in BIOS.

While testing temps dropped to about 54c after about 10 minutes of Prime95. Other testing apps give similar temperatures.

What is werid is Vcore no longer goes back to .8v at Idle but is reported as 1.236v. The CPU frequency does decrease to 800mhz during Idle. When stressed Vcore shows 1.176(vdroop?). The VID does go down at Idle and shows 1.363v when stressed. This is according to HWmonitor.

Before I did this I saved my previous profile and loaded it back up. Going back to the old auto settings does not bring back the old results.

Was something glitched with the auto setting and changing it "fixed" it? Is the Vcore not decreasing intentional?

I am really confused about these results.

Fixed/static vcore in BIOS is meant to not decrease or increase, VID is ignored entirely, it's a fixed value and it won't go down while idling or every other low/mid/high load task as adaptive or offset modes are meant to do, what you are seeing are effects of (as you said) the annoying Vdroop method used in some motherboard manufacturers instead of a better Load Line Calibration method as used in other mobos, that method of vdroop actually it's a useless piece of crap as it normally have higher vcore idling and low load task than under heavy loads or stress.

Aside from that, everything is working as intended by the manufacturer..

Thanks for the info. My motherboard does have LLC, I might play around with it.
