Hi peeps, was going to post this in general software but i thought i'd get a better response from here.
I have a Windows Server 2003 box where the boot partition is full, and the Data partiton has loads of space free. I want to extend the Boot partition by 10Gb, is there any FREE software that
will allow me to do this? Not a trial piece of software but a proper free piece.

If it's possible that is.

Cheers,

Ross

Don't know about Live, but GParted LiveCD will let you resize an NTFS volume.

Then you just reboot and chkdsk, you're good to go.

Hi Rossi,

I am afraid that there is no free Windows Server 2003 partition software, what's worse, there is no built-in tool in Windows Server 2003 to extend the system partition. Only the extension of data volumes is supported. To extend the boot partition or system partition in Windows Server 2003, you may need to use the third party tool - such as Aomei Partition Assistant, Acronis Disk Director, etc. Both of them are reliable Partition Magic Server alternative.

I just did this on the weekend and I used the Patition Magic in resize mode. Its paid shareware but worked well for me and you can have a try.... :)

Don't you mean WHS?

I mean the linux based utils (parted magic, gparted ...) which can be run from a live cd do not care if you are running a server version of windows. I am pretty sure I have extended the partitions dozens of tines on 2003 server at work. You may need to be in basic disk mode however.
