Change from RAID5 to RAID6 without wiping out array?

I'm adding 2x Seagate 1.5TB HDDs to my existing 4x 1.5TB RAID5 array.
(on an Areca 1220 Controller)

Can I add 2 drives to increase capacity? Can I convert it to RAID6 for more security?

I believe the ARC-1220 should be able to do online capacity expansion and RAID level migration; quality hardware RAID controllers like yours should be able to do this.
 
No, the 1220 does not support migration from raid 5 to raid 6.. as I found out.. :/
It can only migrate between 0, 3, and 5.

*just adding it here as a reference for future searches
