I can't get my Chaintech AV-710 w/ optical out to receiver to go fully in to 5.1 Dolby Digital. The receiver kicks over to Dolby Digital, but only sends audio to the front two speakers. My receiver shows that no signal is being sent for the center, surrounds, and sub. Even when I do the test sounds on the surround speakers in the via audio control panel I get no sound. I have tried every setting imagineable, and 2 different drivers.

Anyone have any ideas?

You only get two channel audio unless the media is already encoded into a multichannel digital audio format.
In that case you need to select the SPDIF (also known as SPDIF pass through) option in the software to keep the software from decoding the signal and sending the same two channel audio to the receiver.
Pop a dvd into the PC and try again ... it should pass though the Dolby Digital signal and everything will be honky dory.

Sorry I forgot to mention that this is whn I pop a DVD in. During normal computer use, my receiver is in Dolby Pro-Logic mode. When I put in a DVD it kicks over to Dolby Digital 2-channel.

Cancel this one! Got it fixed! Just had to patch PowerDVD and now everything works!
