CF a 5850 with a 6870

If you get a motherboard with Lucid Hydra you should be able to. Intel has one coming soon called the DX58SO2 board....

Elmy is right about Hydra but Hydra's problem is that it doesn't scale anywhere near CFX or SLI scale at. If you have a 5850 I suggest getting another one, since their cheaper anyway right now.

QFT^^ Many saw the piss poor scaling due to lack of optimized drivers and thought they'd reserve comment until the drivers had time to mature. At this point the consensus is that Lucid has had enough time to get their drivers optimized and the scaling still sucks bad.

It's an interesting concept if they can get it to work right but sadly... meh

No, they are different generations.

this, I'm kinda in the same boat, was waiting on either adding a 2nd 5850 or going w/ the next gen.

but i'm running 3x2007's in eyefinite plus a 3007

what resolution are playing @ OP?
