Why are people saying to use ceramique? easier application? I Was talkin to one of the distros of AS and they said Silver is their top performing paste just alot harder to apply and wont perform well if not applied well.

so is ceramique better or AS =p ?

Its a moot point. They both perform near identical. Go read some benchmarks.

You ask why alot of people like ceramique? This is why. Its easier to work with. Its non-conductive where as AS5 is a very small ammount. Also it costs about $4.00 shipped, where as AS5 is about $6-$12 shipped.

They both perform identical. Ive actually seen some benchmarks with ceramique 1-2C cooler.

In my personal years of experience, all pastes perform pretty much the same. Stocks, Arctic silvers, Shin etsu, zalman. Shin etsu is the best, but they still all perform near identical. They may vary by 1-2C. But who really cares about 1-2C. A hot summer day can raise your temps 5-10C so....its sorta moot to care about 1-2C imo.

Hope that helps.

I just use what comes on the heatsink now. Systool says I idle at 27C, probably off by 5-8% but still good enough.

The temperature difference between Ceramique and Arctic Silver is negligable.

ceramique has some major advantages at extremely low temps. like not crystalizing. (i'm talking very cold like phase change)

Ceramique vs Silver, easier to clean off HS-chip...that wins it for me.

Always used Ceramique and propably always will so I can't comment on AS5. but Ceramique is great, non-conductive, easy to apply, cheap-ish...Gets my vote
