Hi everyone. I'm super new to this forum, and new to the idea of modding in general, but I think it sounds awesome.
I've got a Cent534 currently, and my P180 is arriving tomorrow along with an AF7Pro. So I'll have everything out of the case anyway, so I figured I'd use it to mod and eventually put a cheap E21X0 OC rig into for guests.
Here's what I'm thinking, I need you guys to help me by telling me what I'll need, if it's possible, and maybe offer helpful tips and advice.
The case came stock with one side intake (120mm) and one rear exhaust (120mm). It has a cooling cylinder deal fixed to the side panel that sits over the CPU, and a spot on front for 120mm (but under the face-plate, because that's where the USB/Audio/Power button are).
Here's what I'd like to do:
1. Add top blowhole (120mm I think)
2. Thinking about handles, just to learn the process, not sure yet though.
3. I want to add the 120mm to the front, and also was thinking, I've got 4 open slots on the front, since I only use my one DVD drive, and I wanted to try adding a fan there for intake... not sure how that would work though, so that's definitely something I need advice on.
4. I want to cut out two holes on the side panel, one where the current fan is and one where that duct thing is and put on a nice cover over each like I see on PerformancePC and various other sites. Then put 120mm intakes on each slot.
5. I'd like to install some type of fan control on the front, maybe use 3 of the open bays for my front fan and use the 4th for a fan controller. If I add 2 to the front, 1 top, 2 side, and 1 rear that's 6, and I've seen a lot of 6 channel controllers... but not sure how that all works yet either.
6. I think with the rest of the side panel I'd like to add a nice window maybe with an interesting shape (not just square, you know?)
I think that's about it. I've drawn up a ton of pictures and ideas and plans for what I want to do, but don't have any type of scanner. Maybe I could take a picture of them and post that at a later time.
Please let me know what you think of my ideas, if they're feasible or whatever. I know it might not be even necessary to make all these changes, but I think it'll be fun to do as an introduction to modding. I can take one step at a time and just make it a project.
Also a question, I've been recommended to buy 2 fans at various other forums, the S-Flex from Scythe, and the Silverstone 121 (I think) it's white. Then other places I read how amazing Yate Loon fans are, and I just wasn't sure any more what to get. I really like the price of the YL's vs the others, I can get 4-5 of them for the cost of one S-Flex or silverstone.
