so I just got my new intel centrino duo laptop (T60P) and apparently it has intel enhanced speedstep built in. My question: are there any utilities that I can use to see what the status of the speedstep is at any given time? I know on my AMD desktop machine at home I have a cpu utility that tells me in real time the current cpu speed. Is there any such thing for intel speedstep?

I'm not really sure. I use the "wmcpufreq" dockapp in Linux. This should work with any CPU. You didn't state what OS you use... though I assume you use Windows. I'm not sure what the best utilty is. Do you want to just check the frequency, or do you want to have a little system-tray app that tells you?

If you just want to check it, I would assume that CPU-Z or somesuch would tell you.

I have a dell laptop E1505 with a YONAH, T2300.
I installed CPU-Z and minimize it. You will see what your processor speed is at any given time. The T2300 varies between 1.66ghz and 900mhz depending on the load on the cpu.

NHC1.9B3 willshow cpu temp and HDD temp as well as cpu MHz or GHz. NHC= Notebook Hardware Control. It needs MS .netFramwork 2.0 to run.
