center speaker volume fluctuates

hello. i'm using a 7.1 speaker arrangement with a creative x-fi card. the center speaker's volume is normal most of the time but every now and then it becomes nearly inaudible. this makes it hard to hear dialogue in games.

anyone know what the issue could be?
 
Test with another source, such as a DVD movie. It's possibly a game issue, either the game itself, or the audio settings/features used for gaming.
 
I've seen that for some action movies. The center channel has no output at all during action scenes and then all of a sudden you there's a burst of sound when dialog starts.
