Cell phone + computer = bad?

I heard from a lot of peeps u should not put ur cell phone next to ur computer, any ideas on that?
i do know when my phone rings i hear static threw my speakers, but i want other opions.
 
*grabs mother's and brother's cellphones, puts them next to computer, waits for something to happen... phones both... waits again...*

If your cellphone battery explodes though, that could be bad for your comp...

Well your computer puts out alot of interference. I think its more to protect your cellphone from interference.
 
back in the days when i used a crt monitor it would flicker a second before my phone started to ring. that was pretty wierd
 
There really is no harm in putting the two next to each other...just an annoyance. I know when I put my old Motorola T720 next to the computer and it would ring, the sound would mute. (Not actually mute but in the sound audio properties the notch would be at 0). My new phone V400 flashed to V600 has the same problem but now it makes all the lights in my keyboard go blank. (Num lock, Scroll lock, etc,.) Funny instances but no harm done, if scared, then just simply move it away.

There is no harm at all....next to a CRT monitor the screen will flicker, but that has to be pretty close, and the only other interferance is next to speakers....makes the 'da da da da da da' sound.....they actually did i dance tune to that aswell lol 'Somebody answer the phone' ;)

Connecting via GPRS causes these interferances also...
 
And even your speakers would have interference. You shouldn't have them next to your speakers or you will see little warbling.

yea for me...its just the monitors flickers...nothing happens to my comp. tho.
 
Nextel phones near speakers are fun, they make a rather interesting pattern of noises.
 
I love seeing the monitor flicker. I always have my phone on vibrate and it is a perfect way of warning me I am getting a phone. But I don't think it has done anything to my computer. :D
 
i know exactly what the guy with the t720 was talking about

I have 3 of them (damn crappy phones) and they, just like a majority of nokias make a rhythmic 'da' sound.


Text messages also do this.

I doubt it does any damage. It's just a reception issue.

My cell phone has a fairly good connection even though I'm in a dorm room surrounded by cinder blocks and who knows what else. If I set my cell phone on my desk next to my tower, the Out of Range icon shows up. As soon as I draw it away from my tower, it disappears.
