How many people out there (proudly) own a Celeron CPU? You prob arent a gamer if you do, but Im still curious to see who owns em.

I am a proud owner of a Celeron D @ stock 2.4GHz!

It is only used for digital audio work, and it does its job well. My temps range from mid 20s to high 30s depending on what Im doing.

So who else owns em?

I use mobile celerons. 1.5 @ 3.0 in my Shuttle SB65G2 and 2.0 @ 2.66 in my laptop.

/edit: forgot about the Tualatin celeron 1.3 @ 1729MHz in my SV25 :)

I'm about to build 2 Celeron-D systems. Fry's had the retail 320/2.4GHz for $44.90 on clearance so I picked up a few.

I was playing around with one of the chips to see how low I could run the voltage. I got down to 0.95v @ 2.4GHz completely stable. I have no way to easily try for lower (cheap-o QDI board), but that's pretty impressive. :D That same CPU only does 3.3GHz stable on a cheap $30 845PE motherboard (QDI), but that's good enough for an 8 year old.

I'm also building a "budget" 3.6GHz for my brother:
$20 MGE SOHO H2 case & 350W PSU
$45 Celeron D 320 (this one does 3.6GHz)
$30 aopen 865P motherboard
$40AR 512MB PC3200 Kingston
$7 TNT2 M64
$10 48x CD-ROM
$45 160GB Maxtor 7200RPM HD
$10 memorex/logitech KB/mouse
------
~$225 (after tax and shipping for a couple of items) :D He has another cheap 512MB DIMM for dual channel.

I game on my Northwood Celeron.

Since I've reseated the HSF, My load temps don't ever go above 40c.

I don't think its my proccessor holding me back, so much as my AGP slot is only 4x.

im an old school celeron person, ive had a celeron 1300@1600, 600@1035, 433@590 and even a rare coppermine 1100@1250

Normally I would build myself a high-end performing pc but this past year I decided to build just a clean cut performing computer that wouldn't break the bank that I could still be proud of for what I do. I'm not a serious gamer ever but like to enjoy a round on shooters once in a while. Just wanted something to tie me over until 2006 until longhorn & all the latest emerging technologies mature like dual core 64 bit goodness etc. didn't see the point in going all out for what will soon be considered yesterdays top performers. Plus for what I do with my home computer this more than gets the job done happily for me.

So I went:

Celeron D 2.66 @ 3GHz (I prefer to OC modestly to preserve cpu lifespan)
FSB @ 150MHz quad pumped 600MHz, 1GB Corsair XMS 3200C2 @ 375MHz DDR
MSI 845PE Neo-L
ATI Radeon 9600-SE (will be upgraded later this year for sure)
NEC 1980SX 19" Digital Flat Panel
WD 80GB SE IDE 7200RPM
some other non important parts modem, tvtuner, dvd-rw etc.
Windows 2000-Professional

I had the cpu @ 3.1GHz but the mainboard dividers dropped my memory speed down a bit & I preferred to keep it as close to true DDR400 speeds as possible. I could've OC higher to get my memroy sped where I wanted it but like I said I prefer to OC modestly. I felt faster memory outyields faster MHz clock.

Previous system was an Athlon XP 1700+ @1.5GHz in an Abit KT7A-RAID v1.1 board with a GF4Ti4600 128MB, 768MB PC150 Mushkin RAM ete, etc. Previous computer Abit BE6 440BX original with Tualatin Celeron 1.4 @ 1.6GHz & FSB @ 115MHz that was it's final upgrade. Currently No plans yet for next PC. Not in in hurry either. I'm content. Tired of playing with the latest PC parts & troubleshooting issues. Prefer mature products now with ironed out problems.

Just my thoughts...I'l stop rambling now... :D

I've got a 1.2 Ghz Tualatin Celeron in my 2 1/2 year old HP lappy. She's not the quickest machine by any stretch of the imagination but she has run incredibly solid and stable even under heavy use. Eventually I might try some OC'ing on that bad boy but I just haven't gotten around to it. ;)

In my house there are two Celerons... Both are owned by my dad, but I picked them out for him... One is a laptop with a 1.6 GHz mobile Celeron 1.6 GHz... I am typing this post on that machine at the moment. I use it a lot, especially because my main PC is an Athlon 1800+, which is unstable and noisy. This machine is nice and silent, and solid as a rock. I've even played the odd game of HL2 on it (it has an ATi chipset with integrated Radeon IGP 340M).

The other machine is my dad's main desktop box. It's a Celeron 900@1000 (I believe it is a coppermine? It's not a Tualatin anyway, but it does have SSE2, and a 100 MHz FSB, which is now running at 111 MHz). I put 512 mb in it and my old GF2GTS card. It is actually quite a good overall PC. Ironically the GF2GTS performs a lot better in that Celeron than it did in my 1800+... Must be partly because the i815 chipset is much better than the VIA KT133A that I have... and perhaps partly because the AGP bus is slightly overclocked too, because of the increased FSB. To be honest, I'd trade my 1800+ for his Celeron right away, if given the chance, just because it's so stable... and it performs quite well too, somehow I think that the i815 chipset just makes the whole system more responsive, especially during HDD access.

So yes, I like those Celerons.. Although my next system will probably be a Pentium... although, if there will be 64 bit Celerons out, and the price is right, I may get one of those. It's not like I need all that CPU power anyway.

I have a Cerery D 2.53 @ 3.9GHz..actually, it does make a good budget gaming CPU, at least with the ramped up clock speed, whereas it's less cache dependant. I'd like to see one that could do 4ghz++ with ease tho.

I honestly think mine could do it on air, if I had a better mobo.

I don't know, it just gives me a special feeling.

A Northwood Celeron can't generally run as high as the Prescott Celerons. But that motherboard you have does support Prescott CPUs.

Wow, many more than I thought. I run my Celeron at stock speeds because she purrs right along without a hitch. I am quite proud of my purchase, it fits my digital audio workstation very well.

2 1.8's

one is running a low useage server at a clients, one is at home as a spare browser/folder

I have a Celeron D 320 2.4GHz@Stock, it'll do 3.6GHz but the temps go through the roof! And my stock temps aren't that good either, that other guy said he got mid 20s-30s? I get high 30s to high 40s if I play a game, it's crazy. My case does suck but I can't imagine the case being the problem, maybe I fucked up with the AS or something

Celeron D's are decent processors, more people should try them out.
Too many people have "Celeron = bad", "Pentium=good" engrained in their head. Its not always true. SOMETIMES it is. It just depends on the generation / core at the time.

The tualatin celeron's where the SAME thing as Pentium 3's.
256Kb cache + decent OC'ing headroom = a great processor at the time.

Northwood celly's kinda sucked b/c of the 128Kb cache & 400 FSB.

Now the Prescott Celeron D's are pretty good again. The 256Kb cache + 533FSB + great overclocking headroom = nice

I've been thinking about building a system with a 2.53 Celly D and OC the hell out of it.

I'm in the process of getting my Abit BP6 mobo with dual 500 original celerons back up and running.

I'm sitting here at work looking at two old IBM machines with 300Mhz Celerons folding as we speak!

Every Mhz counts! :D

I have two 2.4GHz E0 Delerons at 3.6GHz, a 2.66GHz C0 at 3.2GHz and a 2.66GHz C0 at 2.66GHz.

its the celeron. games dont use the bandwidth of the AGP 4x bus to its fullest. 8x and PCIe are a waste when it comes to gfx bandwidth.

its hte celeron and hte old chipset, actually

Some tweaking, I now run everything 2xAAed and run the game at about...between mid and max graphics, and I get over 70fps constant [ unless theirs a crazy ammount of action on screen...then about 30ish ]

Ahh memories of my old 600mhz coppermine celly back in 2000

Now I have a 2.4ghz CeleronD at stock b/c of this soyo likes to corrupt hdds with any overclocking. I use as a visual basic computer because it runs VB faster than the amd

Celeron D 320 (2.4Ghz) @ 3.6Ghz on an Asus P4P800-SE. I also have a Celeron M 340 (1.5Ghz) waiting for my Asus CT-479 to arrive :)

But the Celeron D 320 is an amazing CPU for only $72. Plenty fast at 3.6Ghz even.

Had a Northwood Celeron 2.6ghz here!
I was hooping 3.0ghz out of it and it maxed out at 2990mhz.

oh well made $150.00 off of it...

Celeron 400 mhz in the [h]ouse

I wants a new one for OCing, hopefully the price will plummet since supposedly the celeron is being discontinued :(

where did you hear that?

Proud owner of a 2.4 E0 Celeron @ 3.7 ghz Prime stable on stock voltage and cooling. I can't change the voltage on the board that I am using now, but I should have an IS7 system set up on Friday. I'm thinking an easy 4 ghz, maybe more.
