An intel p4 celeron and intel p4 wil both @ 1.7ghz. Which is better?

They are essentially the same chip. yuk.

well, actually the willamette has 256k cache as opposed to the 128 of the celry (both are 180nm chips and thus are hot and OC like poo).

Both are space heaters with poor overclocking headroom. The P4 (with more cache) is faster of course.

The northwood was the best P4 Core RIP

Why is it when something is good people have to chage it? They just need to die shrink the northwood to .65nm, and slap 2 together in dual core....
