I am curently running a Celeron M 1.50 socket 479 in my lappy, is there anyway i can upgrade it to a Pentuim M? or anything better?

Who manufactured your laptop and what model is it? I believe it is possible to swap out the Celeron-M for the Pentium-M in most laptops.

from my experience, i upgraded from celeron M 370 to pentium M 725. keep it to 400FSB. but for some reason for my laptop (Dell B130) banias core didnt work eventho its 400FSB. you get much better battery life because of the EIST.

i have no experience in lappy upgrades, but if the desired pentium m chip is also socket 479 with a 400mhz fsb, i cant c why it wouldnt work

It is a Gateway 3040GZ

And yes I understand if its the same socket, but does anone know of any other prosessors that are socket 479?

it is not always possible to upgrade laptop chips, for the simple reason that they are a lot of the time pre-soldered to the mainboard from the factory.
