I am trying to build a super low budget pc. I can get a Celeron m cpu online for very cheap, the only problem is there are very few mother boards and the ones I do find are crazy expensive. Is there some sort of adapter I can use to operate the celeron on other boards (one I can buy cheap)

btw, just checking: Celeron M is better that celeron (the original) and Pentium III, right?
Because all three are in the same price range (assuming you can find them)

The Celeron M is much better than the PIII and Celeron. If you wanted an easy way to think about it it's roughly clock for clock with the AMD FX, especially in gaming.

The Asus adapter and MD is probably the most affordable way to go @ about $130, although I'm currently looking at the MSI Speedster FA4-R $145 for a PM I'm getting soon. I guess it depends on what your goals are.
 
Yeah, but I'm looking for a super cheap solution. The reason this thead is called what it is, is because most of the parts will be salvage or from ebay
 
Its not really low budget for a celeron M solution, youd be much better off with a celeron D setup (mine was insanely cheap and OC's VERY well).

The Celeron D's may o/c well but at they do 1/2 the work of the Mobile processor at 2x the speed. They also require much more power (about 6x) and create much more heat. Being generous a Celeron D o/c'd to 3.5Ghz would be equivalent to a 1.72 mobile processor. Considering the fact that a 1.4Ghz Celeron M will easily overclock to 2.4Ghz without more volts (thus less heat) a Celeron D doesn't look so impressive.

You can get a p4p800-vm (or other compatable) motherboard which I've seen people pick up on ebay for <$30 and a $42 adapter, you're all set.

What kind of budget are you looking at, anyway?
 
I was referring to budget, not performance. Im aware of the speed differences.
 
Celeron M, will be more expensive but will smoke the Celeron D and all other budget chips. If you get a Yonah based Celeron it will beat even the highest end chips (when oced to 2.8+ Ghz).

It's mainly going to be salvage, with acception of the adapter.
So the buget is >$100
And by the way I found good deals on Celeron M on ebay. DON'T TAKE THEM. I guess alot of people are upgrading to P-M because there are alot of C-Ms on there
 
The adapter is the CT-479 and has given people amazing results from what I've seen.

That looks real good, are you POSSITIVE that the adapter and the mobo will work
together with a Celeron M between 1.3-1.5 GHz OR can If find a salvage mobo, what should I look for?

I would not buy from an e-bay seller that has a friggin voice when looking at the auction. It is just annoying. Also, the RAM slots are slanted... that is weird!

I think I'll buy that motherboard of ebay. Where can I find a nice low cost video card?
 
go for the celeron m because of the low-wattage and high performance you will save more money overall with a celeron m go buy a asus board that supports ct-479
