Which of these would be the best performer overall a p4 1.8ghz 512k 400 bus or the Celeron M 1.60GHz/1MB Cache/400MHz FSB.

I'm gonna say the Pent 4, and i think mostly everyone else will say the same, also.

I am considering getting the dell b130 laptop I currently have the inspiron 8200. I can only afford the b130 if I were to get a new laptop and want to make sure that it would be a decent upgrade.

Is that Celeron M a 420? If it is , it's based on the Yohnah Core. That chip will rock The Mobile Pentium 4 at 1.8 is very old technology. Battery life will be shorter because it doesn't have speedstep. That's it's only negative but since the comparison is against a mobile Pentium 4 it's probably a wash.

The Celeron M, be it a Yonah or a Dothan with hands down beat the P4. If it is a Dothan then you could even be able to pin mod the socket to OC it 2.12Ghz.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies. Battery life means nothing to me since it will mostly be using AC and be hooked up to my television set.
