Hello all!

My first post in the forum.

I want your opinion in the new quad-core celeron J1900 bay trail.
I haven't seen any kinf of reviews on this or something similar, so I don't really know what to expect from it. I've seen the review on the j1750, but that is the dual core without boost.

I'm interested in the new Asus eee bo EB1037, that will come with this CPU and a Nvidia 820m.

So you think that his CPU will be able to handle common HTCP functions (Fullhd Media, etc) and light gaming? Will it be able to feed the 820m, with is a fairly powerfull entry level GPU?

How would it compare with a celeron G1820 for exemple? Half the power?

Or am I asking took much from such a low power CPU?

Desktop Celerons "G" are the same actual chip as Pentiums, i3's and i5's just with most of it binned (disabled) so they tend to be pretty fast.

The mobile ones are a completely different chip, so they don't compare.

I know they don't compare directly, but I just wanted to know how they would behave under similar situations. Half the power?

In Intel burn test at least, a quad core baytrail running at 2.16GHz was withing spitting distance of my sandy bridge dual core celeron 1.4GHz. If I ran on half the cores, I got half the performance. BTW, the Celeron 1.4GHz is about as fast as the core 2 duo p7350 at 2GHz. So 2 baytrail cores at 2.2GHz is about equal to one core of the Core 2 CPUs at 2GHz... in just this test/benchmark mind you.

I hope that gives you a frame of reference. It still embarrasses the old AMD brazos netbook chips, the old atom, and these old sub-2GHz Pentium M and even P4 computers people are finally retiring, especially now with included USB3.0 and a decent iGPU (stripped down HD2500).
