I had this CDRW for like 4 or 5 years. It's a Ricoh. Sorry, I cannot find any specs on it online.

The problem is, it stopped reading today. I was playing game, and it just froze on the game. Then everything in my computer went slow. So I rebooted and try to continue playing, but the game won't launch.

So I rebooted again on a live-CD thinking there is something with the OS. Well, it successfully booted the live-CD. So just to make sure it was the OS and not the CDRW, I booted with another live-CD, and it failed to read.

So I went back to my OS, and it failed to read again. So I thought, maybe this its just the box.

So I exchanged the CDRW with the CDROM on my other box. The CDROM worked on the this box. But the CDRW failed to work too on the other box.

Whenever the computer boots, all the CDRW does is blink the light. It will blink with or without a CD inside. Also, usually when I remove the CD from the tray, it will come out warm or hot. Now it comes out cooled.

So is my CDRW impotent?
