i recently got a virus so i had to format. I formatted and my computer was playing up because im assuming that the virus was still on it. I then formatted again and this time flashed the bios. Dont know why, i just did :) I re installed windows XP and now am having troubles with my cdrom. It seems to read some cd's and gets stuck on random files halfway through the install programs for most games. I have tried a second cdrom and it does the same. I installed the latest 4 in 1's and all that did was cause an error in my device manager "VIA cpu to agp2.0/3.0" or something. It also wouldnt recognise my video card after that so i uninstalled the AGP drivers and it seems ok but the cdrom doesnt work.

My system specs:

soltex SL-kt400a-l mainboard
AMD XP 1700+
Geforce 2 Ultra
256MB ram
40GB HDD

any ideas? im getting ISDN next week so i want to try to get my computers issues sorted by then but it doesnt look good :(

see if there's a new firmware for your cd-rom. Re-flash the mobo too, just to be safe. Check cabling, re-arrange what device is on what channel, and check bios for settings...
