CD not recognized

I purshased a few new games and installed them sucessfully. When I go to play them, I get the error message "Please insert the correct cd-rom" and "no disk in drive". I check that the disk is clean and reinsert them and same problem.
I checked the error log on Windows XP and it said the device cd-rom has a bad block. This happens when I use my cd burner or dvd-rom drive. Any ideas?

AMD Athalon XP 2500+
Gigabyte K7 Triton w/ nforce 2 chipset
1 Gig. DDR PC 2700
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128mb. 8X AGP
C drive-WD 40 gig
F drive-Maxtor 120 gig
 
That actually sounds like the message you get when trying to play burned PC games...in fact, that's the EXACT message pretty much....yeah, it's what I got the first time I tried! ;) :p LOL
 
the only thing i can really suggest would be to clear your temp directory, and reboot:
click start, run, and type %temp% and clear out what you can
then if it still doesnt load up, try on another persons machine and see what you get.
