I did take a shot at building one out of lego's.. it kinda works.. the design has problems with more then 10 disc. which is a major problem.. i have been thinking of redesigning it, just haven't tried yet.. Hopefully one of these days I can get this thing to work right.. this is the site that helped me get started

Problem is that too many cds stacked is heavy and the tracks that move the cd from the bottom of the pile are not able to move them. I saw a device at the science center that moved coins around.. that design might work..
