My girlfriend has an HP Pavillion zv5120us laptop.

When she tries to play a cd or dvd (audio or video) she gets a blue screen.
Her cdrw/dvd drive : HL -DT -ST RW/DVD GCC-4241N

anyone heard of this problem.... or know how to fix?

thanks.

Sounds like a possible problem with the program used for autoplay...Does this happen just by putting the cd in the drive?

I also would say it's probably software problem.

Try reinstalling whatever software she uses to play those things.

it actually happens after the cd is in, like it will start playing for maybe 30seconds, then blue screen.

whats even view?

formating is an option, but i would have to do it for her... but im afraid that maybe the cd drive will mess up while formating. :(

I really doubt that the CD drive has a physical problem.

try just booting from the CD.. if it boots, you should be just fine..
