Cd doctor or similar?

You know that thing that is supposed to get rid of scratches by wearing the plastic down on the underside of a cd? Does that really work? I have 4 cd-rws that are getting write errors and the computer takes an hour to read the disc due to all the scratches. I don't want to buy new ones, because there's nothing wrong with the ones I have other than the small every day wear and tear scratches.
Anyone have experience with it?

Well, I've never actually used one, but the GameStop I buy from uses one of these things on all the used games they sell and it seems to do a decent job. I've been seeing that thing around for years, so I'd imagine that it'd do the job for you.
