Anyone heard of this??? my dad found this in a magazine and it said here that with these programs: "PE-Builder" and nLite, you can create a CD that will boot in a computer in case a hard drive fails. Personally I don't know why anyone would want this, Maybe there is a reason for this which I overlooked.

I don't know anything about these programs and what they do, all i know is it involves CD writing. Even if booting from CD is possible, is there any reason I want this.

any input would be cool

Bootable cd's have been around since around early p2 days, if not earlier. It has it's uses, most windows cd's are bootable so you can install without using a much slower floppy. You can also use live distro's of linux that you can boot from cd and not have to make the commitment of harddrive space if you just want to test them out. Basically, any full os install has some form of bootable cd option to make life easier.

*edit*
If you want to learn a little more about it, check out google for the "El Torito bootable cd format" and you'll find alot more info.
