i just wiped my hard drive and went for a fresh install of windows
everything done right as ive done many times before
then i install the newest ati drivers.

wtf?

my bootup went from 70megs to 210 megs, it doesnt run any of my really really simple open gl apps, (it plays games fine though accept for the stuttering as it now uses my hard drive for ram)

wtf is this ccc? why does it take up 140 megs? did i download some beta software? i clicked on the icon in the system tray, and all i got was a permanent splash screen.

im running very standard hardware and a completely and correctly installed operating system.

what is the normal characteristics of this program, and what is .net for anyway?

i think i might try a NGO ATI Optimized Driver v1.5.13 @ http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1290

im trying to find a driver on ati's site with the settings for aniso and AA, and its proving to be a bitch.

Search around on the ATi website for the 5.12 Control Panel version, install that, then just download the standalone 5.13 Display Driver and isntall it, it will get rid of the Control Center junk.

i just ran direct x tests and the cubes just flip around really really fast.

wasnt able to find it at ati's site just PDFs on how to use it

i think i found a combo of 5.12 and the control panel @ http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1276#

hopefully this will be familiar to me.
