1) no fan control, have to use buggy 3rd party programs to control it
2) my card is constantly downclocked, and doesn't speed up when it should. I can't even overclock the card.

if I would have known the software/drivers would be this buggy there's no way in hell I would've bought this $550 video card. And will ATI, the most lazy company in the world, ever fix their crap? I don't think so.

Also this is why POWER SAVING TECHNOLOGY should be !@#$ing banned, I don't care if I'm drawing an extra 2 watts of power, the earth can go die

make your own fan profile...

what drivers? when you say down clocked, when, while your on the desktop? you over clocked it?

the software drivers aren't that buggy, sounds likes something else is wrong

what vid card?

more details

4870x2

The fan thing I can deal with, but my card is constantly running at 507/500. Desktop OR in game, it doesn't matter. I've tried it with every game I have, it won't upclock. Tried setting the speed manually by enabling overdrive, doesn't work, POS ati can go to hell.

I should've known better than to go with failTI but I was desperate to get away from nvidia, guess I learned my lesson, will put the 4870x2 up for sale as soon as nvidia releases something new

I agree that the 48xx series was released with a crap load of flaws and ATI hasn't done jack to clear issues and make people sleep better, but your blatant trash flaming rants make you look like one hell of an idiot.

i will admit, the 4870x2 is fast but it's ati's drivers that kept me away from buying an ATI card, i got my fair share of their bloated drivers....

Not true, I did not have issues with the 4870. The 4870 actually performed better than my 4870x2 in cod4, and never had issues with the 4850 as well as far as drivers. The 4870x2 however...I am definitely having performance issues...as to whether they are related to drivers or hardware..not sure.
