Does anyone know the output voltage to an average cathode tube 12" long (blue case lighting). I am hitting it with my multimeter but I am not sure I believe the 70 volts it is telling me is there. I want to cut the wires and lengthen them but I am worried about the voltage rating of the conductors. They are rubber coated and just want to make sure the wire I want to use is ok.

IIRC, the cathodes work at a few hundred volts at fractional amperage. Extending the wires between the inverter and the cathode will cause a larger voltage drop over the longer wires, and dim the cathode.

Edit: looks like in the neighborhood of 600v @.005a
