I just installed a Sapphire x800 xl ultimate I got through a trade here, and installed the latest CATALYST 6.4 drivers. When windows starts I get this message (every time!)

"CATALYST Control Center will not be fully operational until SMARTGART has determined your optima graphics processor settings. Please wait..."

This windows stays up for like 5 minutes, cannot be minimized and is on top. Is this normal with the 6.4s? Is there some setting to stop it?

The 6.4s seem to be a bit of a trainwreck, I would try the 6.3s. Make sure to run DriverCleaner in safe mode after you uninstall the 6.4s. You have Microsoft .net 1.1 installed too, right?
 
no one knows where to get 6.3s for win x64? I would think they've had ati drivers for x64 for a while now, but I just switched so I don't know.
 
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I am having the same problem with the 6.8's.

IT's extremely irritating. Does anyone have a solution?
