Catalyst Crashing?

I just decided it would be a good idea to DL ati's Catalyst Control Center, so I go ahead and get it, install it, and restart without a hitch. XP Pro boots up all normal-like, but once Windows fully loads, the display messes up and I get distortions on icons and the little righ-click menu. After a few seconds, my computer reboots, and it tells me that my display device failed and it could not complete a drawing operation. Now this drawing operation failure thing has happened in the past. When I went to try and open the control center, it gave me an error that said 'the application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000135)' What the crap is going on?
 
Hrm, try downloading drivercleaner, reboot in safemode, run drivercleaner, make sure you have .net installed, and then install the drivers. Make sure that anything ATI related is gone before you install the new drivers, since IDK if DC will get rid of the CCC files.
 
Where do I get this .NET thing and how do I boot in safe mode? Also, do I have to uninstall the ati control panel and the display driver? Does this catalyst 4.10 replace the drivers I have now or something? How is it different from regular drivers?

The Microsoft .NET framework can be obtained through the Windows Update site. Be sure to click on Custom Install and not Express Install when you reach the Windows Update site. You will need this software before the Catalyst Control Celter will even work.

Also, you don't need to remove any ATi software or drivers in order to install Catalyst Control Center. The regular ATi control panel will be automatically disabled upon installation of the CCC. And the display driver is required when installing the CCC - but the versions of both must be compatible with each other. (That means don't try to install an older version of the CCC with a newer display driver - or vice versa.)

In addition, on Windows XP systems, SP2 is recommended (though not required) when you install the very latest Catalyst display drivers.
