On my laptop, which has a ATi Radeon Mobility 5470HD installed (I know, not a very good card lol but nothing I can do about it until I get a new Laptop), ever since I updated drivers (which was the biggest pain in the ass, i've updated more graphic card drivers from both ATi and Nvidia, in my life then i can remember and never had it be such a pain before) whenever I first boot into windows I get an error message saying Catalyst Control Center has stopped working. So I was wondering if I can remove it without it removing the drivers. I use Revo Uninstaller, so I was hoping i could just go in there, remove CCC and be done with it since I don't ever use it. I prefer thrid party apps for controlling my GPU, and I really don't do a lot of gaming on my laptop anyway, just a lil bit of WoW, StarCraft II or some Battlefield when I am out and about and have time to kill. I game on my Desktop and Consoles, so I definitely don't need CCC on my laptop. I am pretty sure it's ok to remove, but since I've never removed it before, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't tied in with the Drivers and that by removing it, it would mess with the drivers in some way.

You can choose whether to install it or not when you install the AMD driver package.

You should be able to remove it with AMD's uninstaller from Add/remove programs. Just click "custom" when the uninstaller comes up and check CCC only

and yes, it is fine to remove if you don't need to use it

Or you could do a complete wipe with driver sweeper and just use windows update to get the latest WHQL driver.

Well I already Have the latest AMD/ATi drivers, so I just wanna get rid of CCC.

Thanks for the info everyone, much appreciated. I figured It would be fine to remove it like I said, but I just wanted to double check.

I seem to be unable to find CCC in Revo or Add/Remove Programs. I looked Under Catalyst Control Center, and anything with AMD or ATi in the name, and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know how I can get rid of it without the uninstall package.

hmm.. maybe try re installing CCC? If it doesn't show up in the uninstaller, something is probably broken with it.

from the driver folder just run setup.exe and select custom -> check CCC only

well I just read your post, but already did something similar. So thanks for the info anyways haha. What i ended up doing was installing the AMD Catalyst Install/Uninstall Manager which was missing from my installing of the Catalyst Software Suite in the first place, since it's a whole install suite. So I re-installed that, and then it allowed me to choose the programs from the suite that I wanted to either Install, Repair or Remove, and I just clicked CCC and hit remove and once it was done, rebooted my laptop and now that error message no longer pops up. And I just checked the Install Manager to make sure it full removed CCC and it did, it now only has the option to Install and not Repair or Remove.

I hate it when it's something so simple like that, which you should've just done in the first place, but for some reason you overlooked. I shoulda just done that in the first place before even posting this question lol Part of the reason I didn't tho, is cause I totally forgot that the Catalyst Software Suite included a Install Manager.

But now it's fixed and that's what matters. Thanks for all the help peeps, I appreciate it.
