Catalyst AI, Crossfire, and High Resolution

For months I've been wondering what's going on with my performance in Crossfire. I figured out recently that turning off Catalyst AI fixed my problems with Quake 4 crashing. Since then I've tried all my other games, with and without Catalyst AI, as well as with Crossfire enabled and disabled.

ALL of my games play more smoothly with Catalyst AI DISABLED, whether in Crossfire mode or not. This is pretty annoying and I'm even annoyed at myself for taking this long to really test it out. This might be the final straw that pushes me to build my next system around Nvidia.
