What the title says. Of course I didn't Google, I prefer hearing about it here, and I did use the search feature on Hard, and I looked through 7 pages of search results. I have a X1900, and Catalyst A.I. is set to "Standard" in CCC, so what's it supposed to do? I can put it to Advanced, but I don't know what the benefit is.

its a balancer between optimizations and image quality, used mainly to either put your image at the best possible quality, or turn it to the other side to give downgraded quality but for better performance

This is somewhat incorrect. Catalyst A.I should not never downgrade image quality. It is an optimization routine that is supposed to find more optimal ways of running code on ATI graphic cards than the game code allows; application specific optimizations. I think the diff. between High and Standard is that High uses shader replacement routines in some games. I'm not pos. on the diff either.

having the AI set to performance will set off certain optimizations that will degrade, most people see degredation with smoke effects the most

its not supposed to effect your image quality too much, but again it doesn't always work as intended, neet thing to work with though, i just leave mine off
