Catalyst 6.8 Released! (x32)

CCC takes 1-2 seconds to load up for me, after the initial load.
And? The total combined load time is still tremdously long.

My card can pump out over two thousand high-resolution frames in Pray in the time it takes for the simple control panel to fully initialize. Something to consider.

On a personal note, I'm having some issues with the Chuck fix, so those are a no go for me.

What combined time? I right click, hit CCC, and 1-2 seconds later, it opens. Pretty simple.

And once Windows is booted, how long does it take for the ATi icon to show in the taskbar? This is the "initial load" I believe you mentioned. The combined time here would be this time plus the time it takes for the control panel to load after you manually launch.

Ok...I tried them, it was not a pleasant experience.

Everything looked like...bad LOD, kind of reminded me of nvidia.
So, I switched back to the older cat 6.3 with CP and ATi Tray Tool.

Couldn't be happier.

Yes, I said initial load, not combined load. Try calling it the same as I do, if you want me to know what you're talking about.

The initial load is about 6 seconds. And again, after that, its 1-2 seconds. As you can see, not everyone has these problems some do with long load times of CCC.

Testy, are we? I wasn't under the impression that "combined" is some outrageously ambiguous term.

The combined time, as it stands on your machine, is 7-8 seconds. For others, this can be anywhere between 30 and 50 seconds. What, do you think, is different about your configuration that leads to the combined load time being a fraction of what others experience?

I dont know. I dont have a lot of useless apps in my systray taking up resources. I run a decently clean machine.

You state for others its 30-50 seconds. And yet for others, its much less than that.

Definitely. Just trying to figure out the "whys" of it at this point. I set Display Detection to manual on my machine, as you mentioned earlier, but I saw no appreciable decrease in initial load times or panel launch times. I'm running a fully clean boot (firewalls, temperature monitoring tools and others I launch manually), but my drive chugs away for about 25 seconds before the ATi icon shows in the tray. With the CCC disabled, and using both ATi Tool and Tray Tools, my initial load is less than a couple seconds, meaning my machine is totally ready-to-roll seconds after I log in. With the CCC, I'm stuck waiting for ~25 seconds.

I also have a Raptor, but I doubt that would make a difference. I made a video a month or so ago, but have since deleted it. Got called a liar about my times, posted vids for proof.

Fallguy's fix helped me, I wonder if your problem is something else? While my load times aren't 1-2 seconds, it's only 10-12 now.

This new driver makes counter strike source unplayable on my machine. Can I uninstall the 6.8 drivers and install an older one, like 6.6?

You think 27 seconds is the majority?

One simple change, makes it load much faster. In Display Option, change it to manual. Easy as cake. Takes me 1-2 seconds at most to load after the first time.

And I didnt say your PC is slow. I said not everyones is as slow in that aspect.

Just loaded the 6.8's and changed the display option to manual.... Damn - CCC is almost instant w/ right click now. Thanks alot dude.

6.8 screwed up Bf2 for me. I kept getting intermittent freezes. Back to Omega 6.7 and all is great.
