Performance Improvements for CATALYST™ Display Driver Version 4.9
As with most CATALYST™ releases performance has increased in various situations. The following performance gains are noticed:

Doom3 performance improves 10-15% on ATI RADEON™ X800 XT products when anti-aliasing is enabled.

UT2004 performance improves considerably on the ATI RADEON™ 9500 PRO, RADEON™ 9700 PRO RADEON™ 9800 PRO and RADEON™ 9800 XT products. The benefit can be 25% or more in some circumstances, particularly at extreme graphics settings such as 6xAA + 16xAF.

do they come automatically with the new catalyst control panel thingie?

because i don't like it.

or unless somebody can explain to me how i can make my TV become my primary monitor like i can currently (for watching DVD movies) with the control panel now.
 
I think I'll just take the video drivers and control panel, considering the ati control center doesn't work for me for some odd reason, on my built-by-ati 9800pro.

Guess those canucks cannot program worth a sh*t.
 
I've got my 42.3M DL in my 256M SanDisk Cruizer Mini ready to take home and install on my system! I can't wait! :D
 
bleh, broke doom3. Won't load now says can't find opengl subsystem, was working fine on 4.9's beta.

the link would show you that there are options to download with or without the CCP
 
Wiping the beta and then installing the certified 4.9's worked good for me. :cool:

You don't have to make your TV the Primary monitor to do that. Click the Overlay tab then select Clone Mode Options. Now click the Theater Mode and have fun.
 
In UT2004 I can run now at Quality 4xAA and 16xAF about the same FPS as performance 2xAA 8xAF < with earlier drivers, there was a small but noticable decrease in speed when going from 8 to 16AF.

Radeon 9700pro AIW.

I had this happen when I first installed the 4.8's. All I did was install the 4.8's over the first install and all was fine.
 
I have the Doom3 4.9 betas right now. Is it going to be any better (preformance wise) if I upgrade? I am satisfied with the betas, but does the official one tweak all programs and not just doom3?
 
My timedemo in Doom 3 went from 31.2 to 30.9.
Very small difference, could just be something else that caused a slight drop. Basically, no change here.
 
I think if you have vsync on it locks it at 60Hz, but if u leave it off it plays to what ever your card can handle, right?
 
Still running fine for me at 85 hz here no probs.

Mind you, I don't use ATi or third party proggies to force refresh rates, I use DXdiag "override" and ini hacking for OpenGL games.
 
looks like frame.net 1.1 is needed installed for newer CCC or wont launch and error message.
 
It's workin' good for me but I had to un/reinstall it twice for it to work right on my system though... :confused:
 
The new Catalyst Control Center doesn't work for me at all.. gives me a "failed to initialize"error (even after uninstalling, re-downloading, reinstalling). Uninstalled the CCC, old panel works for me.

do you have the .NET 1.1 runtime installed?
 
I un-unstalled it.

It wouldn't let me do 100Hz @ 1152 x 864 no matter how hard I tried. I tried to force the resolution to 1152 x 864 and it only gave me to option to choose up to 85Hz. Then when I went to force the refresh to 100Hz it wouldn't let me choose my correct res! !@#$%

So yeah, back to the omegas till they fix that.
 
25% performance gain in UT2004 on R300/R350? Did they figure out how to enable brilinear for these chipsets?
